Jackson Five Relive Musical History???Date: 11 June 2004The Jackson Five, the 1970s fraternal supergroup, are planning to reform and make a major comeback on the back of a new West End musical. As opposed to other catalogue musicals such as Mamma Mia!, We Will Rock You, Our House and Tonight’s the Night - which have stitched the hits of Abba, Queen, Madness and Rod Stewart onto original fictional stories – the new Jackson musical will trace the story of the family from Gary, Indiana, which rose to international pop success, selling millions of records with pop classics such as “I Want You Back”, “ABC” and “I’ll Be There”. According to brother Jermaine Jackson, stars for the new stage show will be found via a TV reality show, to be aired both in the UK and US, in which the public will vote for whom they’d like to play which roles, including now-troubled superstar Michael Jackson, the youngest brother who began singing with the band at the age of five. The Jacksons have not recorded together since 1984’s Victory. All going to plan, the brothers’ reunion will also herald a new album and world tour. Related Content |
