Footloose - the Broadway musical based on 1984 teen flick about a city boy who shakes up an American small town where rock music has been banned – is expected in the West End before the end of the year. The stage adaptation - with a book by Walter Bobby and Dean Pitchford, who wrote the original screenplay - had its Broadway premiere in October 1998, running for nearly two years. The UK premiere production, directed by Paul Kerryson, has been touring since February 2004 (See News, 4 Jul 2003). It’s presented by a team of West End producers - Mark Goucher, Michael Rose, Tristan Baker and Gary Gunas for Clear Channel Entertainment – who between them, have had West End musical successes with the likes Fame, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Calamity Jane
