Showgirl Ruffelle Ruffles Chicago Feathers???Date: 3 June 2004Frances Ruffelle, currently starring as Roxy Hart in the West End production of Chicago, is dismissive of the 2002 film version of the hit Kander and Ebb musical. The UK stage version is much better, according to Ruffelle, in an interview with Teletext Total Entertainment, and while Renee Zellwegger was a fine film Roxy, Ruffelle says, “I wasn't too impressed with Catherine Zeta-Jones and her singing. I don't think it was an Oscar-winning performance”. Outside of her own Chicago commitments, Ruffelle is releasing a new solo album this summer and working on a new one-woman musical, titled Showgirl, which she hopes to bring to the West End.
