Big Life & Slamdunk Score in West End???

Two new musicals are being tipped to transfer to the West End where, keen producers hope, they�ll help to attract new young black audiences to the theatre. Nitro�s Slamdunk, which has been touring the UK this spring, blends hip-hop, rap and live basketball in a tale about the local star player who must choose between the big league and his family and friends. The Big Life - developed, without subsidy, at east London�s Theatre Royal Stratford East, where it opened last month and has now extended by a week to 29 May (See News, 8 Apr 2004) - transports Shakespeare�s Love�s Labour�s Lost to 1950s London and sets it to a ska musical score.
