Queen's May Will Rock This Saturday???
Date: 13 April 2004
If you’re a fan of Queen and haven’t yet booked tickets for one of this Saturday’s performances of
We Will Rock You, you may want to get on the phone to the Dominion box office now. As he did earlier this year (See
The Goss, 2 Feb 2004), Queen guitarist
Brian May is planning to join in the curtain call performance of “Bohemian Rhapsody” – and, so we hear, maybe a bit more, too. In January, May appeared as part of a send-off for the show’s musical director. This time round, he’s marking the two-year anniversary of performers
Nigel Planer,
Kerry Ellis and Whatsonstage.com Award winner
Sharon D Clarke, who originated the roles of, respectively, Pop, Meat and the Killer Queen. They’re being replaced by show newcomer Mark Arden and, promoted from within the company, Mazz Murray and Jenna Lee James. May clearly enjoys performing with the cast and has considered making more regular appearances in
We Will Rock You. At one point, there was talk that the part of groupie librarian Pop could be tailored for him, though May has told Whatsonstage.com that prefers to leave the acting in the family to his wife
Anita Dobson, currently starring in
Thoroughly Modern Millie.
