Only April Fools & Horses Musical???

The Whatsonstage.com Discussion Forum isn’t always the kindest of places, but some of the exchanges there are certainly entertaining. The topic posted this morning by ‘Maria’ raised more than a few smiles. She reports that, following the success of seminal TV comedy Only Fools and Horses on the Best British Sitcom countdown, “plans are afoot to bring Del, Rodders etc to the musical stage. David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst (the original television stars) won't be appearing although they will be involved creatively in the character development. Actors who have already been approached include MB (Michael Ball) as Del Boy and Jason Donovan as Rodney. Not unusually, the usual suspects are being considered for Uncle Albert, including Anton Rodgers and Russ Abbott, but apparently Jonathan Pryce has also been in talks. Slated for an April 2005 opening!” All of which should be taken with more than the normal pinch of salt. Other regular Forum users had rumbled Maria as an April Fool’s Day prankster within half-an-hour.
