Friedman Sisters Say No to Nepotism???Date: 24 February 2004Laugh if you like, co-producer Sonia Friedman told journalists at today’s press event for The Woman in White (See Today's News), but the casting of her sister Maria Friedman, who won her third Olivier this week (for Ragtime, also produced by Sonia) was “an absolute coincidence”. Though there was some concern that “obviously it would look like a set-up”, when director Trevor Nunn suggested Maria, Sonia thought “I should be so lucky” to have one of “our best musical actresses” in her production. When asked what she thought about any accusations of nepotism, Maria said “I don’t really care” before going on to praise her sister. “I have huge genuine respect for how she operates. She has a passion and is absolutely committed.” Related Content |
