Theatregoers at We Will Rock You were in for a treat on Saturday. Queen guitarist Brian May made a surprise visit and joined the cast on stage for the curtain call rendition of “Bohemian Rhapsody”, followed by “We Are the Champions”. His guitar solos sent the already excited audience into raptures. May’s appearance was part of a send-off for musical director Mike Dixon - who’s been with the London production since the beginning and will now go on the road with We Will Rock You’s many international openings – but May clearly enjoyed being onstage again and jamming with the company. Perhaps he’ll make it a more regular occurrence. No doubt, that will keep the Queen faithful coming back to the hit show again and again, as if they needed an excuse.
