Kevin Kline Keen to be Jerry Springer???Date: 29 January 2004 Could anyone fill the shoes of doppelganger Michael Brandon playing the eponymous American talk show host in Jerry Springer - The Opera? The real-life Springer has likened Brandon’s portrayal of him as so physically accurate it was like having a “twin” (See News, 10 Nov 2003). Now, we hear, there are some big names queuing up to take the Jerry challenge once Brandon’s contract finishes at the end of March – not least, Hollywood’s Kevin Kline, who’s such a fan that he’s already seen the award-winning musical, now playing at the West End’s Cambridge Theatre, three times. Though Kline is an American stage veteran, he’s best known internationally for his roles in films such as The Big Chill, A Fish Called Wanda, The Ice Storm, In and Out and, in another musical nod, the forthcoming De-lovely, in which he plays legendary composer Cole Porter.
