Could Your Dog Become a West End Star???Date: 27 January 2004Joe McGann and Andrew Schofield won’t be the only newcomers when Birmingham Rep’s acclaimed revival of John Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men transfers to the Old Vic next month (See News, 8 Jan 2004). Producers are also seeking fresh talent to take on the crucial role of Candy’s Dog, an elderly cross-breed mutt nearing the end of a hard farm life. The canine co-star should be “slow moving and well disciplined” and “must not be easily distracted by large crowds or bright lights”. Open auditions will be held at the Old Vic tomorrow, Wednesday 28 January 2004, at 1.00pm. There’s an extra incentive for owners, too; whether successful or not, for every dog that auditions, the owner will receive a complimentary pair of tickets to see the show.
