Lauper Just Wants to Have West End Fun???Date: 22 December 2003 2003 saw pop boys including Stephen Gately, Kevin Richardson and Jon Lee making their West End debuts, but 2004 looks like the year that the pop girls are going to have some fun. Britney Spears and, more definitely, Mariah Carey have already been mooted for London stage outings (See The Goss, 6 Nov & 31 Oct 2003), while the latest name being bandied about is Cyndi Lauper. An early 1980s contemporary of Madonna, who made her own West End debut last year, Lauper is best known for pop hits like “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” and “Time After Time”. Her new album - At Last, a compilation of easy listening covers – has just been released in the UK. Details of her stage project are still under wraps, though it’s likely to be a play rather than a musical.
