Gambon & Evans Play Beckett's Endgame??? Date: 5 December 2003
There could be more Samuel Beckett for your buck in the West End soon. Following last month's opening of Happy Days, starring Felicity Kendal, and ahead of a planned 50th anniversary production of Waiting for Godot in 2005 (See The Goss, 19 Nov 2003), both directed by Peter Hall, fellow director Matthew Warchus is planning a staging of Beckett's Endgame for this coming spring. According to today's Daily Mail, negotiations are underway for Michael Gambon (last seen on the London stage in A Number at the Royal Court) and comedian Lee Evans (who's also in the frame for the London production of Broadway musical The Producers) to star.
