Hall Follows Happy with Anniversary Godot???Date: 19 November 2003His current production of Happy Days seems to have whetted Sir Peter Hall's appetite for both Samuel Beckett and the West End's Arts Theatre, where the revival opened last night. Hall is now planning a 50th anniversary production of Beckett's most lauded play, Waiting for Godot. In 1955, when he was director of the Arts Theatre, Hall premiered the English language version of Godot. More recently, in 1997/98, he revived it at first the Old Vic and then the Piccadilly, where Julian Glover and Alan Dobie took over from Ben Kingsley and Alan Howard. Come 2005, Hall will bring the play back to its home at the Arts. It's far too early for any word on casting, but I'd bank on some big names. Related Content |
