Mariah Carey Debuts in Monroe Role???
Date: 31 October 2003
In a more alarming casting scenario, pop singer Mariah Carey is also apparently on the verge of making her West End debut in the new year. According to the
Daily Mail, she's signed up for a revival of
Terence Rattigan's play,
The Sleeping Prince, which later became the 1957 film
The Prince and the Showgirl, starring Marilyn Monroe and
Laurence Olivier. Carey has been in London this week performing in concert at Wembley. Best known for her chart success, Carey has already tried her hand at screen acting, though not with great success. Her semi-autobiographical starring role in 2001's
Glitter was critically panned.
