A Trio of New London Doll's Houses???Date: 24 October 2003 Speaking of Laurence Boswell, another one of the director's planned projects - A Doll's House starring Ally McBeal Calista Flockhart (See The Goss, 4 Sep 2003) - could be facing some head-to-head competition. Birmingham Rep, whose production of Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men opened last night in the West End, are planning their own production of the Ibsen classic, in a new version by Bryony Lavery (Frozen). Directed by Rachel Kavanaugh and starring British screen star Tara Fitzgerald, it's due to open in Birmingham in February 2004 ahead of an anticipated West End transfer. More imminent still, next month, south London's Southwark Playhouse will present A Doll's House - newly adapted by Samuel Adamson and directed by Thea Sharrock - as part of its tenth anniversary season. Well, perhaps Boswell will switch his star onto another vehicle. Flockhart is apparently still keen to revive The Philadelphia Story (See The Goss, 9 Sep 2003) while All About Eve is also a possibility (See The Goss, 21 May 2002).
