McCormack Skips Dinner for Curse???Date: 21 October 2003 It seems Catherine McCormack will not be joining Harriet Walter for Moira Buffini's new Dinner setting at the Wyndhams (See News, 16 Oct 2003). Despite having performed in the original National Loft production in November last year, McCormack may well be unavailable at the end of next month, thanks to Under the Curse, directed by Joe Hill-Gibbins and part of a season of updated ancient classics at west London's tiny Gate Theatre (See News, 18 Sep 2003). McCormack has been offered the lead in Goethe's version of Euripides' Iphigenia in Tauris, re-set in Germany in 1787. Under the Curse runs from 26 November to 13 December 2003, overlapping with Dinner which is set for West End previews from the 3 December. What's more impressive, though, is that, while playing Iphigenia, McCormack will receive just £150 a week (the West End Equity minimum is almost double that).
