Two Peters Clash in RSC Rehearsal Rooms???

One more little titbit care of Michael Boyd that raised wry smiles at last week's press conference (See News, 30 Sep 2003). As part of Boyd's renewal of the RSC's company ideals, his Core Ensemble will benefit from 12 full weeks of preparation, including a week of 'classes' with leading experts such as former RSC artistic director Peter Hall and Peter Gill, who will also be directing Romeo and Juliet as part of the Tragedies staged at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. "Peter Hall will be coming back to give his Advice to the Players on speaking Shakespeare's version; Peter Gill will then contradict him completely," Boyd predicted before declaring, "This is good." It should certainly make for entertaining, if confusing, rehearsals.
