John Leslie Banks on Chicago's Billy???Date: 29 September 2003The West End production of Chicago has been responsible for resuscitating the street cred of numerous flagging celebrities over the years - Denise Van Outen, Les Dennis, Alison Moyet, Norman Pace, Gaby Roslin, Michael Greco, Sacha Distel and Marti Pellow amongst them - but surely this takes the cake. According to the Daily Telegraph, disgraced television presenter John Leslie has been auditioning to follow Backtreet Boy Kevin Richardson into the part of superslick lawyer Billy Flynn, who helps the show's murderesses beat their rap in the Kander and Ebb musical. While Leslie has been a familiar television face for years, his fame turned to unwelcome notoriety earlier this year when he was linked with an unnamed date rapist in fellow celeb Ulrika Jonsson's autobiography. Charges of indecent assault were later dropped, but not before ITV's This Morning dropped Leslie and other women stepped forward to renounce him. Related Content |
