WYP Premieres Postman Always Rings Twice???

Screen thriller The Postman Always Rings Twice is being adapted for the stage. West Yorkshire Playhouse has secured the rights and is working with a West End producer to realise the production, which will be directed by Lucy Bailey (Baby Doll), first in Leeds ahead of a planned London transfer. In The Postman Always Rings Twice, drifter Frank Chambers gets a handyman job at a roadside caf� where he falls in love with the owner's wife and conspires to kill her husband. Based on the novel by James Cain, the original 1946 film, starring John Garfield and Lana Turner, was remade in 1981 with Jack Nicholson, Jessica Lange and a new screenplay by David Mamet.
