Boswell Gets Busier with Calista, Lenny & Jake???
Date: 4 September 2003
According to this week's edition of
The Stage,
Laurence Boswell is capitalising on his celebrity-friendy cachet by forming his own company, Laurence Boswell Productions, as a subsidiary of the Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG). Last year, the director worked with a whirlwind of Hollywood big hitters (including
Matt Damon) in the various casts of
This Is Our Youth and with the ultimate super celeb,
Madonna, in
Up for Grabs, the latter presented by
Sonia Friedman, who has a similar producer relationship with ATG. In addition to a previously tipped staging of
Romeo and Juliet featuring
Jake Gyllenhaal, winner of Whatsonstage.com's London Newcomer of the Year Award for
This Is Our Youth (See
The Goss, 6 Jun 2003), other planned projects for Boswell include revivals of Ibsen's
A Doll's House, starring
Ally McBeal's
Calista Flockhart, and Trevor Griffiths'
The Comedian, starring comedian
Lenny Henry. Boswell is also due to curate a season of Spanish Golden Age productions for the RSC in Stratford next year (See
The Goss, 11 Jul 2003).
