Mrs Robinson Covers Up in Graduate Tour???Date: 27 August 2003 As the first UK tour of The Graduate gets underway tonight (27 August 2003) in Cambridge, it seems that regional audiences will be getting slightly less - or should that be more? - than their West End peers (See News, 18 Jun 2003). According to the Times newspaper, Dempsey and Makepeace's Glynis Barber will be the show's first Mrs Robinson, the middle-aged seductress of young Benjamin, not to bare all. In the West End and on Broadway, the likes of Kathleen Turner, Jerry Hall, Amanda Donohoe, Anne Archer and Linda Gray caused sensational headlines when they dropped their towels in the famous - albeit, extremely dimly lit - bedroom scene. The newspaper reports that show producers hoped to persuade Barber to follow suit, but later discovered a 'no nudity' clause in her contract. So, unlike her predecessors, Barber will wear underwear in the crucial scene. Following Cambridge, the three-month tour continues to 15 further venues.
