Cool Propeller Dream of New York???Date: 15 August 2003Propeller Theatre, Edward Hall's excellent all-male Shakespeare company, seem to be spinning from strength to strength. After last year's critical success with Rose Rage, their two-part adaptation of the Henry VI trilogy, they returned to the West End last night with truly one of the most hilarious Midsummer Night's Dreams imaginable. The production was first seen earlier this year at the company's home base at Newbury's Watermill Theatre and then on tour and is now booking at London's Comedy Theatre (newly airconditioned, by the way, and wonderfully cool!) up to the end of October 2003. Plans are afoot, too, to take it to New York's Brooklyn Academy of Music in spring 2004. In the meantime, American audiences will get a taste of the Propeller magic next month when a transatlantically cross-cast Rose Rage is mounted at Chicago's Shakespeare Theater. Related Content |
