Jumpers Jets off for West End Season??? Date: 8 August 2003
According to today's Daily Mail, the current National Theatre revival of Tom Stoppard's 1972 farce Jumpers could make a jump across the Thames for a West End season this autumn. It's being tipped for the Piccadilly Theatre in October care of ATG producer Sonia Friedman. The theatre this week welcomes back another NT revival for a limited season - Michael Frayn's backstage farce Noises Off, which is celebrating its 21st anniversary. Though also labelled a farce, Jumpers presents rather thornier subject matter, with its lengthy musings on philosophy and space travel. David Leveaux's revival, which opened at the NT Lyttelton on 19 June 2003 (previews 7 June), stars Simon Russell Beale, Essie Davis and Jonathan Hyde.
