Scrooge Steeles in for West End Xmas???
Date: 23 July 2003
Is the West End ready for the return of
Tommy Steele? It'll have a little while to wait yet, but if all goes to plan, we could see the Bermondsey-born entertainer stealing home next year. After a decade's absence, Steele, who turns 67 in December, returns to the musical stage in October to launch a tour of
Scrooge. The hope is, if Steele goes down a storm with regional audiences this Christmas, he'll reprise his role for West End audiences come Christmas 2004 - and, in the process, give panto-deprived Londoners a seasonal alternative to myriad
Nutcrackers and the annual return of
The Snowman (See
News, 29 May 2003).
