Words Whams Triple for Bourne Revivals???
Date: 15 July 2003
Though it's not been confirmed in the South Bank schedule, we still hear strong rumours that
Matthew Bourne's double Olivier Award-winning
Play Without Words will return to the National in 2003/4 (See
The Goss, 11 Dec 2002). That could mean a triple dose of Bourne's electrifying dance productions for London audiences in the next year. Sadler's Wells have just confirmed that it will host returns of his irreverent
Nutcracker! and legendary all-male
Swan Lake (See
News, 14 Jul 2003).
Play Without Words received its world premiere in summer 2003 at the NT Lyttelton as part of the National's five-month Transformation season. The piece was nominated for a total of five 2003 Oliviers and won two for Best Entertainment and Best Choreographer for Bourne. It was also nominated for two Whatsonstage.com
Theatregoers' Choice Awards, for Best Choreographer and Best Ensemble Performance.
