Ruffelle & Backstreet Richardson Join Chicago???
Date: 18 July 2003
The West End invasion of former boyband stars looks likely to continue unabated. Following in the recent footsteps of Boyzone's
Stephen Gately, S Club's
Jon Lee and Steps'
Lee Latchford-Evans comes former Backstreet Boy Kevin Richardson. According to the
Daily Mail, he - along with
Les Miserables old hand
Frances Ruffelle - will soon be joining the cast of
Chicago. From September, Richardson and Ruffelle are due to play, respectively, Billy Flynn and Roxie to
Ruthie Henshall's Velma. A spokesman for the show's producers told Whatsonstage.com that that casting has still not been confirmed. Speaking of
Chicago, however, one thing has been confirmed. The DVD and video of the hit film based on the Kander and Ebb musical will be officially launched Monday night (21 July 2003) at London's G.A.Y. Club, where members of the stage company will perform the number "Roxie", with
Amy Field playing the eponymous murderess.
