Blue Marks the Spot for Wanamaker???Date: 13 June 2003Zoe Wanamaker - currently appearing opposite Alex Jennings in His Girl Friday at the National – strolls down the South Bank today to take part in a special ceremony in memory of her father at Shakespeare’s Globe. The late American director Sam Wanamaker was the visionary behind the reconstruction of the Globe, and he recently topped a poll of famous icons from the London borough of Southwark who should be honoured with a Blue Plaque. This morning Zoë unveiled the Plaque, a familiar sight in London at places of historical note. The ceremony kicks off “Sam’s Weekend”, an annual event at the Globe celebrating the theatre’s founder with free workshops, tours and discussions. Related Content |
