Woman of No Importance Moves Back to Haymarket???Date: 29 May 2003A new production of Oscar Wilde's A Woman of No Importance, about "a wicked aristocrat who seduces a virtuous maid", is gathering steam for an autumn outing at the playwright's spiritual home, London's Theatre Royal Haymarket. Along with Wilde's An Ideal Husband, the classic comedy about the hypocrisy of the English upper classes premiered at the historic West End theatre in 1893. More recently, the Haymarket has hosted high-profile productions of Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest and Lady Windermere's Fan, both directed by Sir Peter Hall. No casting for the new production has yet been confirmed but, if last year's mounting of Lady Windermere's Fan - which starred real-life mother and daughter Vanessa Redgrave and Joely Richardson - is anything to go by, the signs look good for some big names.
