Deep Throat & Debbie in Porn Musical Battle???Date: 20 May 2003 If you thought Jerry Springer - The Opera lowered the bar of good taste in musical theatre, we'd love to see your reaction to news that two new porn-inspired offerings are now in development. First up: an adaptation of the 1972 porno "classic" Debbie Does Dallas, about a teen queen and sexcapades on the way to becoming a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, which has been turned into - apparently - an American feminist musical comedy by producers at The Araca Group, the same company responsible for the cult Broadway hit Urinetown. Adapted by Erica Schmidt, it features music by for Andrew Sherman. Panting fast behind Debbie is Linda Lovelace: The Musical, based on the real life story of the legendary porn star who died in a car crash, aged 53, in 2002. Most notably, Lovelace played her frustrated self in the 1972 skin flick Deep Throat, in which a doctor explains that her problem is due to her clitoris being wrongly located at the back of her throat and so, to achieve sexual satisfaction, she must ...
