Hugo Speers Role in Hall Repertory???Date: 6 May 2003Though full casting hasn't yet been announced, Peter Hall's inaugural repertory season this summer at the Theatre Royal Bath is looking more and more intriguing. Hugo Speer, making a rare stage appearance, has now been signed up to play opposite Janie Dee in Hall's revivals of Noel Coward's Design for Living and Harold Pinter's Betrayal (See The Goss, 5 Mar 2003). Speer is best known for the film The Full Monty, while his other screen roles include Swing, Clocking Off and 40. The season, which opens 25 June 2003, will also star the director's daughter Rebecca Hall, who won this year's Ian Charleson Award for her debut in her father's recent West End production of Mrs Warren's Profession (See News, 14 Apr 2003). In Bath, Rebecca Hall will star in a DH Lawrence play, The Fight for Barbara as well as in Shakespeare's As You Like It, which will also feature Philip Voss and veteran comedian Eric Sykes.
