But Is He the Wright Man for the NT Job???

The National Theatre has announced the appointment of playwright Nicholas Wright to its board of directors. Looking at his qualifications, we can�t imagine it was a very difficult decision. Wright probably already has bits of the South Bank bunker�s concrete in his bones. He was, after all, the NT�s literary manager for five years in the 1980s and an associate director up to 1998; he co-wrote the excellent text Changing Stages with good mate and former NT artistic director Richard Eyre; and his latest play, Vincent in Brixton (directed by Eyre), won the National two 2003 Oliviers, including Best New Play, ahead of its Broadway transfer.
