Jude, Cate & Natalie Get Closer???Date: 14 March 2003 Whether or not rumours of Jude Law's indiscretions with Nicole Kidman are substantiated, it seems he may soon be getting Closer to two other Hollywood beauties. Namely, Natalie Portman (whose credits include the recent Star Wars prequels) and Australian Cate Blanchett (Elizabeth, The Gift). Law, who was last seen in the West End playing Dr Faustus at the Young Vic, is set to star with them in a film version of Patrick Marber's hit play Closer. The story is about two couples' turbulent relationships as they mix and match affairs. Alice loves Dan, Dan loves Alice but then decides he loves Anna who loves Larry but falls for Dan and spurns Larry who turns to Alice and ... well, you get the idea. It won the Olivier for Best New Play in 1998 after transferring from the National to the West End and Broadway. Mike Nichols – famous for films including The Graduate, Who's afraid of Virginia Woolf and Primary Colours - is set to direct the steamy tale on screen. It seems likely Law will play the charmer Dan, with Portman as the young stripper Alice and Blanchett as Anna. The only question left is: which lucky actor will be cast as Larry?
