Boswell Backs Bard Trend with Othello???Date: 18 December 2002 And a possible Jude Law Hamlet isn't the only bit of Bard ATG has up its sleeve. Spurred on by the box office success of the current production of Macbeth, starring Sean Bean and Samantha Bond - recently extended to 1 March 2003 at the Albery (See News, 5 Dec 2002) - ATG are looking to mount more Shakespeare in the heart of the West End. Next up in 2003, The Stage also reports, will be a new Othello directed by Laurence Boswell, the man who has this year kept various Hollywood big hitters - including Madonna and Matt Damon - in line with his productions of This Is Our Youth and Up for Grabs, produced for ATG by Sonia Friedman. The former Gate Theatre artistic director has previously expressed his desire to get back to the classics (See The Goss, 30 Apr 2002). He has also been working on a new adaptation - written by himself - of Dostoevsky's The Idiots, to be led by stage veteran Paul Rhys, who he last worked with on yet another production of Hamlet at the Young Vic in 1999.
