RSC Unearths Centuries of Shakespeare Online???Date: 16 December 2002Whatsonstage.com has already added this link to our personal browser favourites! The Royal Shakespeare Company has a "Pictures and Exhibitions" section to its website which is really astounding. More than 3,900 images pertaining to the company's work - including paintings, costumes, props and rarely seen production photographs - have been digitised and made accessible online to the public. The RSC archives were started in the 1880s and include a wide variety of theatre materials, not least pages from Shakespeare's First Folio. Fans should also thrill at pictures of Laurence Olivier as Macbeth in 1955 and Judi Dench as Viola in Twelfth Night in 1969 as well as countless other famous players and productions. The archives section of the RSC website is live from today, 16 December 2002 - check it out now at www.rsc.org.uk! Related Content |
