Summer Holiday Hits the Road for London??? Date: 28 November 2002
The 1963 film shot Cliff Richard to fame and producers are hoping it'll generate plenty of feelgood nostalgia. Summer Holiday has been turned into a stage musical by Mark Haddigan and Michael Gyngell, who also directs the new production which will embark on a regional tour next spring ahead of an anticipated London arrival in summer 2003. Billed as "the ultimate roadtrip musical", Don and co's bus-ride through continental Europe with incognito and on-the-run pop starlette Bobby is set to plenty of rock 'n' roll hits from the era including Do You Want Dance", "Bachelor Boy" and, of course, "Summer Holiday". The production opens at the Theatre Royal Plymouth in April.
