Monty Python Films Inspire Stage Musical???Date: 10 October 2002According to a report in today's edition of The Stage, discussions are taking place between (as yet unnamed) West End producers and members of Monty Python to turn one of the comedy troupe's films into a stage musical. John Cleese, Eric Idle, Michael Palin, Terry Jones, Terry Gilliam and the late Graham Chapman first brought their wacky humour to the British television audiences with their sketch show Monty Python's Flying Circus, running from 1969 to 1974. They later took to the big screen with Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975), The Life of Brian (1979) and The Meaning of Life (1983), which brought them international cult status. The first two, set respectively in the Middle Ages and Biblical times, are considered the most suitable for stage adaptation. Related Content |
