Was William Shakespeare Gay???

Forget 'to be or not to be', was Shakespeare gay - that is the question. And, according to Professor Stanley Wells, there's good evidence to suggest that - despite his marriage to Anne Hathaway and, more recently, his portrayal as Gwyneth Paltrow's red-hot lover in Shakespeare in Love - the bard favoured boys. In a series of three public lectures presented this autumn at Shakespeare's Globe, Wells explores both the sexuality of Shakespeare's characters and the man himself. The series takes place on 30 October, 13 November and culminates on 27 November 2002 with Wells' lecture "Men Loving Men in Shakespeare's Plays". All lectures last one hour each.
