Three Tempests Whip Up London-Bound Storm???

Performances haven't even started yet, but there's already transfer talk afoot for Michael Grandage's Sheffield Crucible outing of The Tempest. The production - starring Derek Jacobi (as Prospero) and Whatsonstage.com Award winner Daniel Evans (Ariel) - has a brief run at Sheffield from 1 to 19 October 2002 (previews from 25 September). Despite its credentials, however, the production will face tempestuous competition for critical and audience attention this autumn. Richard Briers takes on the role of Prospero for a Thelma Holt-produced Tempest which kicks off an extensive UK-wide tour from Plymouth on 3 October, while Malcolm Storry continues in Michael Boyd's RSC production in Stratford until November.
