Rod, Mac & Bowie Dust off their Back Catalogues???Date: 20 September 2002Our current Big Debate on future catalogue musicals (ie those who recycle the back catalogue hits of eminent recording artists and bands) seems to be right on top of the zeitgeist. In the past fortnight, rumours have intensified about projects involving many of the names nominated and shortlisted by Whatsonstage.com theatregoers. Amongst the new shows slated are: Tonight's the Night, the songs of Rod Stewart with a book by Ben Elton; a Fleetwood Mac-inspired musical, co-produced by Matthew Vaughn and Robert Fox, with Closer author Patrick Marber as a possible book writer; and a Broadway recycling of David Bowie's biggest hits. Meanwhile, Queen's current, critic-defying catalogue musical We Will Rock You made more headlines this week when The Stage reported that the show is set to hike prices yet again. With top-price seats now at £47.50, the prediction is that they could soon go up to £55. Related Content |
