Gyles, Jerry, Alan & Auntie Join Edinburgh Exodus???Date: 20 August 2002 The list of transfers from this year's Edinburgh festival keeps growing by the day. Amongst those well-reviewed shows that haven't yet confirmed but are looking like strong candidates for West End after-lifes are Auntie and Me and Zipp!, both of which mark the professional stage debuts for their stars. The former features comedian Alan Davies, who appears alongside Olivier winner Marcia Warren as the eponymous and troublesome relative in Morris Panych's black two-hander. Long in the development, Zipp!, which incorporates 100 of the greatest musical hits and flops into a 100 minutes (à la the Reduced Shakespeare Company), was devised by newspaper columnist and former MP Gyles Brandreth, who also stars in fishnet stockings (a picture that has already adorned pages in several publications). Another show widely considered a sure-fire hit is Richard Thomas and Stewart Lee's Jerry Springer: The Opera, the "trailer trash tragedy" that created a huge buzz earlier this year at south London's Battersea Arts Centre (BAC).
