Grandage Names Sondheim for Donmar Debut Season????Date: 20 August 2002The Donmar Warehouse, under artistic director-designate Michael Grandage's new reign, looks set to continue its love affair with the works of Stephen Sondheim. According to American title Playbill, the Chicago Shakespeare Theater's revival of Sondheim's Pacific Overtures, about the Westernisation of Japan, will steam into the West End theatre in June 2003. The Donmar's previous Sondheim outings have included Assassins, Into the Woods and Grandage's own multi award-winning production of Merrily We Roll Along. This December, Grandage succeeds Sam Mendes at the end of his ten-year tenure as the Donmar's revered leader. Full details of Grandage's inaugural season are expected shortly. Related Content |
