Stomp Pounds into West End Transfer???
Date: 1 August 2002
The multi award-winning British dance phenomenon Stomp looks set, at long last, to pound its way into the heart of the West End. The show, which transforms the junk and clutter of urban life into a source of rhythm, originated on the streets of Brighton in 1991. Since then, it has transferred to New York, toured nationally and internationally, and been seen several times in London - at the Royal Court, Sadler's Wells, Bloomsbury and Roundhouse theatres - though never in the commercial West End proper. This year it ended a four-month UK tour with another three-week sell-out season at Sadler's Wells. In 100 minutes of pure theatricality, Stomp's cast of eight performers use boots, bins, garbage, zippo lighters, plumbers' plungers and everything including the kitchen sink to hammer out a symphony.
