Inspectors Calls at 22 Stops on Tour???
Date: 14 May 2002
Cats wasn't the only West End long-runner to close this weekend promising to live again on tour.
Stephen Daldry's multi award-winning production of JB Priestley's
An Inspector Calls, playing at the Playhouse Theatre since last September, also closed on Saturday 11 May 2002. First mounted a decade ago at the National, Daldry's neo-expressionistic reworking of Priestley's 1946 thriller had subsequent seasons at the West End's Aldwych Theatre and on Broadway before settling in for nearly six years at the Garrick Theatre prior to the Playhouse. The plan is that the
Inspector will embark on a six-month, 22-venue UK tour from January 2003, though exact details for dates and casting have not yet been confirmed. Other recently closed London long-runners due to reveal their regional touring plans soon include
Buddy and
Starlight Express.
