Cats Finds Further Lives on UK Tour???Date: 13 May 2002Invoking the famous "now and forever" tagline at the final performance of Cats this weekend, Andrew Lloyd Webber vowed this was not the end of the feline phenomenon, the world's longest running musical that closed on Saturday after 8,950 performances and 21 years at the West End's New London Theatre. "It will have another life and eight other lives," the composer promised the crowd who gave the finale, reuniting 150 past Cats stars, a standing ovation lasting some 20 minutes. According to Lloyd Webber's Really Useful Group, in 2003, the musical will embark on a massive tour that will take it out across the entire country. Starlight Express, another Lloyd Webber long-runner which closed on 12 January 2002 after 18 years in the West End, is also due for a major roadshow. Schedule details have not yet been released for either production. Related Content |
