Madonna Meddles with Up for Grabs Script???Date: 16 April 2002It looks like Madonna, gearing up to make her West End debut next month, has been adjusting more than the customary show schedule. A few weeks ago, "unforeseen recording commitments" meant Madge had to call off all 20 matinees in the ten-week season of Up for Grabs at Wyndham's Theatre, and now apparently she's had a word or two about the script as well. The comedy by leading Australian playwright David Williamson premiered last year in Sydney where, originally, it was also set. Based on Madonna's suggestions, however, the action will be relocated to New York, two of the character's names will be changed and, allegedly, the ending is all-new too. Williamson has told the Evening Standard that "it'll be a different play by the time it hits the stage", although he insists that none of the changes are being made without agreement from himself and director Laurence Boswell. The play opens on 23 May, following previews from 9 May. Related Content |
