O'Brien Gives Birth in Rocky Horror Sequel??? Date: 15 April 2002
In today's 20 Questions interview, actor, writer and composer Richard O'Brien reveals more details of his long-awaited sequel to cult phenomenon The Rocky Horror Show. O'Brien is currently appearing as the Childcatcher in the musical adaptation of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and, in his spare time, is finishing off the script for what's tentatively called Rocky Horror: The Second Coming. The action for Rocky II takes place nine months later when Janet is about to have Frank-n-Furter's baby. O'Brien has no plans to reprise his own role as seriously spooky butler Riff though, at 60, he's still looking young enough to. Inspired by O'Brien's childhood love of schlock sci-fi films, the original Rocky Horror premiered at the Royal Court in 1973 and later spawned the 1975 cult film, starring Susan Sarandon and Tim Curry, as well as countless revivals. A 30th anniversary tour is due to kick off at the end of this year.
