Pearson Stars in Benefactors Revival???Date: 28 March 2002Neil Pearson is tipped to head the cast in the upcoming West End revival of Michael Frayn's Benefactors, which is expected to open at one of the Ambassadors Theatre Group's London venues this June or July. Pearson is best known for his TV turns in the likes of Drop the Dead Donkey and Between the Lines. He was last seen in the West End in 1998 in Patrick Marber's Closer while last autumn he appeared on tour in Tom Stoppard's The Real Thing. Set in the post-imperialist English suburbs, Benefactors was inspired by Frayn's own experience of building and living in a communal house in Blackheath, south London. It won the 1984 Laurence Olivier award for Play of the Year and also enjoyed a successful run on Broadway. The new production will be care of the same creative team, headed by director Jeremy Sams, behind the current West End revival of Frayn's backstage farce Noises Off. Related Content |
