Black Revisits Romeo Musical Possibilities???Date: 8 March 2002Lyricist Don Black is reportedly working on a revved up, rock 'n' roll version of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, which could hit the stage later this year or early next. The timeless romance was of course the inspiration for that other little-known musical West Side Story. Black is best known to theatregoers for his various collaborations with composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, including Song and Dance, Aspects of Love and Sunset Boulevard, for which he also wrote the book. Another of his Lloyd Webber offerings, Tell Me on a Sunday (1979), looks set for a revival, care of Lloyd Webber's Really Useful Group.
