Madonna Considers West End Deceptions???Date: 22 February 2002Pop superstar Madonna is reportedly considering making her West End stage debut in a play by Frederick Wheeler called Deceptions, about a psychiatrist and her relationship with a young client. Stanhope Productions - led by American impresario Kim Poster whose recent projects include August Wilson's award-winning Jitney at the National and Peter Hall's revivals of The Royal Family and Lady Windermere's Fan at the Haymarket - is said to be keen. However, theatregoers might be wise not to hold their collective breaths. Back in 1998, Madonna was apparently all set to star in a Hall-directed London production of Tennessee Williams' Cat on a Hot Tin Roof but pulled out days after the news became public. Best known for her singing and public relations prowess, Madonna's acting credits include: on film, Evita, A League of Their Own, Desperately Seeking Susan, Body of Evidence and Dick Tracy; and on stage, David Mamet's Speed-the-Plow on Broadway.
