Sinclair Follows Privates with My Fair Lady???

Date: 23 January 2002

Actor Malcolm Sinclair, currently playing Major Giles Flack in Michael Grandage's revival of Peter Nichols' Privates on Parade at the Donmar Warehouse, is due to extend his West End musical repertoire later this year. At an exclusive Q&A session held with Whatsonstage.com after last night's performance of Privates, Sinclair let slip that his next job would be playing Colonel Pickering in My Fair Lady at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, taking over from Nicholas Le Prevost. Coincidentally, both actors are up for Oliviers this year for their current productions - Sinclair for Best Supporting Actor and Le Prevost for Best Supporting Performance in a Musical (a category in which he's also been nominated as part of the 2002 Whatsonstage.com Awards). Though Sinclair was cast in Andrew Lloyd Webber's By Jeeves, he's better known for his much more frequent non-musical credits which, of late, have included Cressida and Alan Ayckbourn's inter-linked plays House and Garden. Also joining the My Fair Lady cast later this year will be multi award-winning actor Alex Jennings, who will no doubt be able to commiserate with Sinclair's relative song-and-dance inexperience - Jennings is making his musical debut in the role of Henry Higgins, taking over from Jonathan Pryce.
